Bruce Harrott has sales smarts

My degree in English Literature and my work in film and theatre gave me a breadth of creative experience that informs all of my work.  When I turned thirty, I decided to pursue a career in business communications. Three years as a copywriter at FCB Advertising (Toronto) honed my ability to write concise, persuasive sales messages for print, radio, outdoor and television for KFC, Bermuda Tourism, and S.C. Johnson.  A career in sales communications has given me the quintessential skills needed in business sales; finding the right messages to drive prospects to your product/service.

Over the next twenty years, I applied my finely-tuned skills to crafting award-winning messages for advertising, 48 sales conferences for Fortune 100 clients such as Timex, Unilever, Honda, and American Express, and more than 15 classroom and broadcast sales training programs for clients including Speedy Muffler, Royal Doulton, and RBC Royal Bank.

As an experienced public speaker and facilitator, I have gained a deep understanding of what is needed to reach people on a level where they are engaged and excited about what is being shared.  I pass on these learnings to all of my clients to bring them greater confidence in communicating with people and presenting their product/service in a powerful way.

My work in the arts industry has also proven beneficial to my coaching work. I wrote and produced a short dramatic film, was production assistant to Peter O’Toole on a feature film, managed Canada’s first stand-up comedy club, and produced, directed, wrote and performed at my own dinner theatre, The Black Cat Cabaret.  These experiences required the skills needed to be a strong sales coach!

In 2004, I enhanced my teaching abilities by receiving coach training at the Adler School of Professional Coaching, Toronto.  Since that time, I have coached senior leaders and managers (CIBC, Mackenzie Financial, and Ryerson University) and small business owners to deepen their learning and take distinct actions to realize their full potential.

I strongly encourage and support all my clients to take distinct actions.  That way, they get the most value from the learning and maximize the return on the investment they have made in my services.
